Tiananmen Square protests, China 1989

Tiananmen Square

There is a small group of people in Beijing to create the unrest in on June 3, 1989. The students protests in front of the Tiananmen square and development of counter- revolutionary riots. The troops stationed around the city of Beijing were ordered to quell the riots. On the morning after four days, the martial law troops stationed in Tiananmen Square to clear the field at the same time, to quell the riots.


Timeline:
April 15, 1989 - Hu Yaobang, a former Communist Party leader, dies. Hu had worked to move China toward a more open political system and had become a symbol of democratic reform.


April 18, 1989 - Thousands of mourning students march through the capital to Tiananmen Square, calling for a more democratic government. In the weeks that follow, thousands of people join the students in the square to protest against China's Communist rulers.

May 19, 1989 - A rally at Tiananmen Square draws an estimated 1.2 million people. General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party, Zhao Ziyang, appears at the rally and pleads for an end to the demonstrations.

June 4, 1989 - At about 1 a.m. Chinese troops reach Tiananmen Square. Throughout the day, Chinese troops fire on civilians and students, ending the demonstrations. An official death toll has never been released.

June 1, 1999 -  The  National Security Archive publish” Tiananmen Square,1989: The Declassified History.” The archive includes U.S. State Department documents related to the events that took place during the demonstrations.

Summary and Facts

Many students protested for around three weeks after that a massacre happened.  The chinese government's military started to kill the protests. One day after the massacre, unknown man with a white shirt and a shopping bag was seen standing in front of the tanks. He tried to stop them and have a conversation. However, still this incident a mysterious one and it is hard to investigate because it is one of the most taboo case in China that no one can talk about up to today. Furthermore, many new generation after that incident don't know about it unless someone from that day could tell them. Also, the government up to now hunts the protests from 6/4 incident.

On the 8th of march 2014, a Malaysian Airline had disappeared without any reason. The investigators are still looking for the plane. It has been more than two years, and still they could not find the truth. We read through many sources such as The New York Times, CNN, CBS and The Wall Street Journal. They have similar stories because no one knows any clue about that happened to the airplane.

The Australian ship still on the the Indian Ocean looking for the Malaysian Airline 370 with under the bad conditions with the weather. The australian’s ship think that Chinese ship could be spying instead of searching.

“The search for Malaysia Airlines’ missing Flight 370 on the floor of the southern Indian Ocean is nearing an end with no sign of the plane in the area that investigators had concluded it most likely went down, prompting a last-ditch reassessment of assumptions used to calculate its final descent and draw the search zone. At issue are estimates of how far the plane may have traveled after it ran out of fuel, notably whether it followed a tight or broad spiral down as it fell or glided toward the ocean.”

CBS:Hopes high wing flap will shed light on Flight 370 mystery.


“Under a microscope and expert eyes, the wing fragment that washed up on the beach of this volcanic island in the Indian Ocean had been confirmed by Boeing that the piece of wreckage is a wing part called a "flaperon," and that the serial number found on it belongs to a Boeing 777 aircraft.”

Australia have sent ships to the Indian Ocean to search for the missing flight.

CBS:After nearly 6 months, new clue in Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 search.

Investigators had difficulties to find out the plane’s direction, but they were aware of the two phone calls that it had been made. Until recently, they realize that by the time that calls had been made, the plane disappeared. It was also invisible to the civilian radar. The plane flew to the west past Sumatra and beyond the range of Malaysian military radar without any communication.

Police Lt. Joe Gliniewicz

Summary:
        The story was about the policeman called Joe Gliniewicz. It was August 31, 2016 when Fox Lake police officers found a body shot in the village. The initial suspects were three mele man who Gliniewicz was pursuing. After two weeks authorities were thinking about the possibility of suicide. He died with his own gun. In November, investigators found that Gliniewicz killed himself because he stole money from the local police Explorers program. In January his wife, Melodie Gliniewicz was indicted to help her husband in money laundering. After several months the truth came and investigators found that Joe Gliniewicz committed suicide and Melodie was punished by five years in prison for having involvement with theft of money.

Sept 1, 2015 - Joe Gliniewicz was found dead;
Sept 7, 2015 - Gliniewicz’s funeral;
Sept 14, 2015 - Investigators was thinking about suicide;
Nov 4, 2015 - Investigators found out about the theft of money;
Jan 27, 2016 - Melodie Gliniewicz was indicted and the truth was discovered.

Laquan McDonald  

Two years ago Laquan McDonald was shot 16 times by an officer. The officer said that he was carrying a knife on his hand and he ran away so they thought that he was a criminal. He was only 17 years old.

A squad car responded to a call that someone broke into an industrial area on the southwest side.

The officer found a boy with a knife in the street. The boy ignored the officer because he told him to drop his knife. The police describe the boy that he was emotionally disturbed. Saying (“He’s got a 100 yard stare. He’s staring blankly.”)

Officer Van Dyke shoots 17-year-old Laquan McDonald
Laquan McDonald was shot near 14st street and Pulaski Road. Few days later they announced that McDonald was dead after he was taken to the hospital.

Van Dyke was charged with third- degree murder.
It took hours for the police to release the video because it captured Van Dyke shooting McDonald 16 times and killing him.
